I think participation is good, and
should be included in classes like this, where most the material only comes
during class time, but I feel the participation set-up isn't set up well.
First, the system wasn't established until about a month in. Originally we were supposed to email all our
group members and then it was switched to be completed on Learning Suite. Since
then, we've had many weeks where we weren't expected to respond. All of this
was put in place after I felt like I understood the routine of the class and it
still throws me for a loop. Participation feels like a sporadic event- Each
week I feel I have to check if it’s necessary, and I always worry that I’ve
missed one. We never got in a routine.
Also, our classroom is a little too
small for our class. We’ve made the most
of it, but I would have rather have enough chairs for the number of people in
the class. I didn’t pay tuition to sit
on an up-side down trash can for an hour and a half.
Except for the above mentioned
issues, I really enjoy the class and the way it’s run. I'm learning a ton about writing and how it is even applicable outside of formal papers!
Totally with you there about the size of the classroom, it is the smallest of the small...I think that you are spot on about the routine being a little off, but I think Laura can use the end of this semester as a great example of how to start the next year! (remember she is learning as she's teaching!)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the classroom size. It's way too small. It makes sitting through class harder.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the participation has been sporadic and difficult to keep up with. The schedule during the first semester has definitely been rough.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the classroom size and also wish that there were a little more room. It's no fun having to crane my neck to watch the youtube videos!
I agree about the classroom size! I want to add how annoying it is that we don't get wifi or service down there!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the class room is way too small! It makes it hard to focus when we are all packed so tight together!
